Our Story

Our band story may not be that great, but if you don't read it, you'll miss something.

One school day at lunch time in January, Mike (Snuff) sat down and propsed a band formation with Gord (Damien) to join Malum In Se with him.  Immediately, Eric (Enriquez) jumped in and said that he wanted to start a band with Damien.  An arguement broke out between the future Nobody's Friend, when Kyle (who cares who he is) tried to persuade Damien to join his band.  Dave (Busta Bus Driva) saw this as an opportunity to form, a band.  Later that day we decided to form an unamed band.  Four days later, the first meeting of the Gods (band practise) took place at Damien's house.  We exchanged songs we knew how to play, our first song that we loved was Dammit by Blink 182.  Quickly after that we learned how to play Faith by Limp Bizkit, Hitchin' a Ride by Green Day, and Machinehead by Bush.

Sometime in February, Enriquez approached us in the halls with news of our future name, NOBODY'S FRIEND.  About a month later Enriquez informed Snuff that our name was named after him (a large dispute between Snuff and his "friends" gave Enriquez the idea for the name).  Band practise progressively got better and happend frequently every Sunday.  Gigs and many songs were soon to come.

Another lunch came when Damien showed us a song he wrote, 5 pages long, called Desperation Cry.  We really didn't think much of it at the time, but it served its purpose later in our lives.  At band practise that Sunday, Enriquez played us one of his songs, So Cool, Snuff started to cry.  Later we wrote a bass line and the drumming for it, we all think that So Cool it going to be our big song.  Another band practise came when Enriquez burst in, pissing his pants demanding that we drop our punk sound and pick up on the heavy shit.  Coincidentaly he wrote a heavy song that we fit the words of Desperation Cry into, but only one page.

April 11, 1999.  Our first gig, at a party in Uxbridge for a guy named Matt.  We played so good, we filled up about an hour and a half set but with only two of our own songs, still, we got a lot of compliments.  During one of the songs, Kyle decided to drop his guitar and chase a guy named Doug around (strike 1).  Between April 11, and May 8, we wrote 3 more of our own songs.

In late April, news came of a Battle of The Bands.  We decided to sign up, we auditioned amazingly, and got our spot in the line-up, which included bands like Evil Breed, Malum In Se , and Blindside.  May 8, 1999.  Our second gig, at Battle of the Bands in Oshawa's Polish Hall.  We played so incredibly bad it mad us sick.  Kyle looked like a fuckin' retard and jumped all over Enriquez's pedals (strike 2).  We were really pissed off from that, but even though we sucked a fat log, everybody loved us, people were moshing and having a great time, because of us.  In late May, we recieved a phone call inviting us to play at Supernova's Musicfest 1999.  We didn't expect that.

On the May 24 weekend, three of us (Enriquez, Damien, and Snuff) played at a house party in Pickering, we set up in the small living room and played so good.  Everybody loved us.  After that we got drunk and went 'shroomin' out of our fuckin' minds.  We played without Kyle that night, but we did better without him (strike 3).  It was so decent.

On June 2 and 3 we played at our school's talent show, and we put on a hell of a show for all the *iggers in the crowd.  We played Bored by Deftones the first night, and our very own Desperation Cry on the second night.  Kyle jumped and ran around like a fuckin' idiot again (strike 4, what the fuck?)

June 4, 1999.  Musicfest 1999, we got screwed over by Supernova.  Even though we sold more tickets than 4 other bands, we still got the shittiest time slot ever, first.  They told us to play half a song as a sound check, after we did our half a song, they told us to keep going with the sound check, so we played another (So Cool),  After we played that song, we asked if we could start playing our set, they informed us that we had already started and we could only play 3 or 4 more songs, thanks a fuckin' bunch, shitheads.

Well, that pretty much brings us up to date with everything, if you read this, thank you very much, your an official hardcore Nobody's Friend fan.
